The JWS Memorial Scholarship was created in loving memory of John Woods Schaeffer (1940-2019). In honor of his love for agriculture and education, our family created a scholarship for students who participate in 4-H and FFA. As a young boy, and all the way through college, John was involved in 4-H and FFA. During this time John showed numerous animals and held multiple officer positions, even being named FFA Beaux. He also received the Lone Star Farmer Award, the highest award given in FFA in Texas. John received his Bachelors of Science from Sam Houston State University. As an adult, he continued to work his passion by aiding local 4-H chapters, teaching students the genetics and breeding process of rabbits, and teaching local students, including his daughter Elizabeth and his granddaughter, Riley how to properly care for and show rabbits. He loved the foundations set forth through these organizations. To help foster the educational aspirations of others, the JWS Memorial Scholarship was created. Today, the scholarship is awarded to students in Magnolia ISD, Montgomery ISD, Tomball ISD, Waller ISD, and Willis ISD wanting to pursue a certificate or degree at a trade school, community college, or university.
To promote continuing educational opportunities to those demonstrating hard work, determination, and perseverance in 4-H and FFA (Future Farmers of America).
The John Woods Schaeffer Memorial Scholarship Foundation would not be possible without the support of our local communities and businesses. As a 501(c)(3) all donations are tax exempt in accordance to the IRS.
